This week’s blog from Castle Grove Country House Hotel shares the many ways they can add a special touch to your most important days:
Castle Grove is located six miles north of Letterkenny, it provides the perfect base to explore the beautiful scenery of Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way.
This near-original Georgian house was built in 1695 and is situated at the end of a mile-long avenue on the shores of Lough Swilly. The 250 acre grounds are made up of farmland and extensive gardens that were designed by Capability Brown.
Today, Castle Grove House is a 4-star Country House Hotel run by the Sweeney Family, and the dedicated team of staff that extend a warm and friendly welcome to all.
The hotel itself has a grand entrance hall, two spacious drawing rooms, a beautiful dining room, library, cosy bar and 15 en-suite bedrooms. All rooms are furnished with antiques and luxury fabrics, adding to the charm and old-world grandeur of the hotel.
The award-winning restaurant provides excellent cuisine which is all prepared in-house by our Master Chefs. They combine a wide range of locally sourced produce, with seasonal fruit and vegetables organically grown in Castle Grove’s very own four acre Walled Garden.
Castle Grove is the perfect venue to make any occasion special; whether it be for afternoon tea, Sunday lunch, an evening meal, or a cocktail on the lawn in the Summer. The restaurant and drawing rooms with their ample space and relaxing allure are perfect to enjoy a nice glass of wine by the fire, romantic night away, or truly special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
Castle Grove is described as “a hidden gem in Donegal” and “the Ballymaloe of the North”

Things to consider when planning an event at Castle Grove:
Refreshments on Arrival:

This provides some time for guests who may not know each other time to mingle and become acquainted.
Castle Grove offers complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits included in all wedding packages.
We also help design signature cocktails for parties, the can be fun and seasonally themed.
Alcoholic and non- alcoholic options available.
Seating Plan:
This is probably one of the most essential elements of planning your event, especially if it’s a bigger event such as a wedding, or if they guests are not likely to know each other. A well thought out table plan, with a good mixture of people from all segments will ensure a warm and friendly atmosphere for your event.
Tablescapes:
A classic floral bouquet can dress the table and add a touch of colour to the crisp white linens, sparkling cutlery and glass ware. It also provides a starting topic for conversation at the table.
Castle Grove provides complimentary flowers and candles on the tables in the restaurant and bouquets in all drawing rooms and main hall.
We also co-ordinate with other local vendors should you wish to create a themed and personalized tablespace.
Irene can help with ideas, and you can come prior to the event should you want to do something personal and unique, within a fixed budget.
Tablescapes show the thought and attention to all the details, provide great conversation and photo opportunities.
Menu:
The menu you choose for your event must not only match the occasion but also cater to the needs of your guests. Different people like assorted styles of food, so it is also important to provide options for all the foodies in your party.
Castle Grove is happy to work with you to provide a menu to any budget and to cater for any dietary requirements.
All our food is cooked freshly for each occasion.
Entertainment:
Depending on the size and occasion, entertainment can range from a sing song in the drawing room to a band and dancing in the dining room. It makes the event last longer by encouraging your guest to stay and enjoy the evening until the wee hours.
Whether your event is at Castle Grove or at home, whatever your budget may be, include these elements and you’re sure to have a successful celebration of your special occasion.
