The RNLI’s Annual Flag Day took place yesterday in Letterkenny – with a huge €4,880.23 being raised for the life-saving cause.
The bucket collectors were in Letterkenny Shopping Centre, some supermarkets, as well as around the streets of Letterkenny.
They would like to sincerely thank the volunteer bucket collectors and to the public for their very generous donations.
Coincidentally, Lough Swilly RNLI were called out this morning at 5:50am to assist a broken down shipping vessel. They towed the ship to Downing’s Pier and then returned back to base.
The Lifeboat crew members give their time for free, but they need training, well-maintained equipment, lifeboats and shore facilities.
The enormous generosity shown during Flag Day will help the RNLI continue their very courageous life-saving work.
