Trad folk group Emmet Spiceland will be back in concert tonight as part of the 50th Mary From Dungloe International Festival.
The legendary group are playing a special one-offf concert at The Waterfront Hotel at 8pm.
The group were the inspiration behind the festival when they released the song Mary from Dungloe over 50 years ago.
“We have a lot to remember,” Donal Lunny, who has strong connections to the Rosses, told Donegal Daily.
“We recorded a song and someone up here got an idea for a festival.”
Donal also created the golden necklace that is given to the winner of the Mary From Dungloe each year.
“I was delighted to do that and to see it through – and I’m even more delighted that it is still circulating among the Marys,” Donal said.
They have been rehearsing extensively for this very special concert where they will be joined on the night by Clann Mhic Ruairi, a West Donegal band making a big name for themselves singing as Gaelige. This will be a feast of music and a must-see for live music fans.
