On Wednesday July 19, Letterkenny Golf Club had a Club Open where Jamie Foley won with a score of 40 pts. having got 3 birdies and 12 pars, some great golf.
Seamus Patton came in second with 36 pts. and Darragh McMenamin third with 35 pts.
On Friday, 21st The North West Breast Care Unit/Silver Tassie Hotel Ladies and Gents Open was held.
There was a large turnout for this worthy cause. Brian Carney won the Gents with a score of 40 pts. (bot) having had 5 pars , Michael Shiel came in second with 40 pts. and Mark Blaney scored 39 pts. taking third place.
The Manor Motors Open was held on Sat. 22nd, Darragh McMenamin won this competition with 39 pts. (bot) having had one eagle, 3 birdies and and 7 pars. Paddy Doherty took second place with 39 pts. and Eamonn McGlinchey took third place with 38 pts.
On Sunday 23rd the Lady Captain’s Prize to Gents Competition was held. Oisin McAviney took
first place with 39 pts. having got 1 birdie and 7 parts. Shaun Harley took second place with 38 pts. and Martin E. Kelly scored 37 pts coming in third.
Chris Nee (Captain) picked a strong team from his panel on Sunday 23/07/17 to play against Strabane at home in the All Ireland Four Ball Competition. Letterkenny had a great win 4-1.
The team was made up of Ali Boreland, Sam Hegarty, John Bowe, Michael Shiel, Paddy Doherty, Tony Logue, Tony Duffy, Dermot Rainey, Barry Ramsay and Brian O’Donnell.
Also on Sunday 23rd Peter Dobson Captain, took the Letterkenny Junior League Team to Portsalon where they had a great win 3-2 away. Michael Shiel Jnr, Keith Shields and Kevin Hensey with ice in their veins all won on the 18th green.
Home 2nd leg is on Sunday 30th at 2.30pm.
On Sunday night 23rd Hugh Breslin celebrated his 91st Birthday in Letterkenny Golf Club with friends and family. He enjoys playing golf and having a few pints .
