A popular festival celebrating the crafts and traditions of the Donegal Gaeltacht takes place at Cnoc Fola/
The annual Féile Chnoc Fola takes place from Friday evening (the 28th July) until Sunday night (the 30th July).
Féile Chnoc Fola is a popular festival with both tourists and local people alike. This year’s festival will be officially opened on Friday evening at 8.00, by renowned poet and writer Máire (Dinny ) Wren, in Ionad Pobail Chnoc Fola and a variety of stage entertainment will be provided afterwards by local children and performers.
There will be a presentation to the “Pearsa Pobail Cheantar Chnoc Fola” (Cnoc Fola Community figure of the Year) which is a closely guarded secret, only to be revealed on the night. The official opening will be preceded at 7.00 by the launch of a book of original poetry by local lady Collette Doherty from Carrick.
The highlight of the festival each year is the traditional day which takes place at Teach Mhuiris in Bun a Leaca on Saturday from 2.00-5.00. This is an opportunity to relive the old craft, farming methods and cooking and food preparations as practiced in times gone by.
There will be “Scéal an Ime” – (the story of the butter from the cow to the table), “Scéal an Choirce” (the story of the “Corn” from the field to the rope – an súgan) and many more demonstrations as well as tasting of home made bread and traditionally prepared sea food.

Mass will take place at the Mass Rock in Bun ‘a Leaca, weather permitting, at 12noon on Sunday 30th July
There were also be music and old style Céilí Dancing. So something for everyone , and if the weather is good there nowhere better to spend a few hours this weekend.
