Two Donegal athletes have been named on the Irish team for the World Championships, to be held in London next month.

The Championships take place from August 4-13 and Letterkenny 800m runner Mark English and Milford’s 50k walker Brendan Boyce are on the Irish selection.

English, who wears the vest of UCD AC, won the Irish 800m title on Sunday as he cruised home in 1:50.89 at Morton Stadium.

“I was happy given the injury I had all season and that bodes all well going to the World Championships,” English said afterwards.

Boyce – who recently switched to Finn Valley AC – has known since April that he was London-bound and will hope to get himself in the reckoning.
