Daniel O’Donnell has issued heartfelt thanks to his fans as he celebrates 36 years as one of the world’s top country entertainers.
The Donegal star said he simply cannot believe his career has lasted so long.
“As I look back it’s hard to believe it’s over 36 years since I started this wonderful career and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support, without you my dream would never have become a reality.”
Daniel wrote the message to his fans on his personal website.
The stars is enjoying a few days of rest and relaxation with wife Majella along the Antrim coast.
He said the last few months have been very busy between touring and appearing on the second series of his Bed and Breakfast Roadtrip on RTE television.
He said the one wish he has is that a major overseas television channel picks up on the show and brings it to his fans around the globe.
“As with the first series the reaction has been overwhelming. It really has amazed both of us at how popular this TV show has become.
“We have such fun travelling around Ireland meeting all the B&B owners who are just such great hosts and so proud of what they do in bringing people into their own homes and giving them a taste of the real Ireland.
“It is my wish that this show will be aired outside Ireland so fingers crossed this will eventually happen,” he said.
He added that he truly enjoyed taking part in the Late Late Show Country TV Special.
Daniel returns to his native Donegal later this month to host the 50th anniversary of the famous Mary from Dungloe Festival.
“I will be attending the Mary From Dungloe festival which starts on 29th July and this is a very special year being the 50th anniversary of the festival. I will be taking part in a concert on the street on the 30th of July and if you are in the area we look forward to seeing you. I am also looking forward to interviewing the Mary’s at the crowning Cabaret on the final night.”
