Feeling miserable about the weather? These sunny snaps are sure to cheer you up

Summer was generous to us for the past few days, and although we hoped it would stick around until the weekend, it came to an abrupt end today.

Although today’s weather is making us feel a little bit miserable in light of the glorious sunshine which graced Donegal over the past few days – we can always reminisce!

Young farmer William Meehan gives the thumbs up to warm weather as he gives his dad Robert a hand as he was harvesting the barley at the family farm near Lifford in Co. Donegal (North West Newspix)

Yesterday temperatures hit 24 degrees, making Donegal hotter than Tenerife. With the sun out, we were able to take advantage of the rugged Wild Atlantic Way and stunning beaches on our doorsteps.

Some used the good weather to do some farming while others basked in the sun watching those working!

The rest of the day will bring heavy rain and a risk of thunder, with conditions getting drier in the evening.

Highest temperatures will be between 17 and 19 degrees, and tonight temperatures will dip between 8 and 9 degrees.

Met Éireann have issued a yellow warning for Donegal; forecasting a moderate to high risk of thunderstorms, as well as a risk of localised flooding.

Although we don’t get scorchers often in Donegal, when they do come along we definitely know how to make them count!
