There was a wonderful atmosphere in Letterkenny at the weekend as the third annual Letterkenny Busking Festival took place on Saturday afternoon.
Drizzly weather didn’t dampen the moods of the musicians, performers, and street entertainers as buskers of all ages took part and competed to win the coveted €1,000 prize, while treating everyone to some incredible performances.
This year’s event coincided with the Seisiún Music Trail that took place in venues across Letterkenny that evening as part of the Earagail Arts Festival.
Speaking ahead of this year’s event, Gerard McCormick, President of Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce that is organising the Busking Festival through its ShopLK Brand said that bringing music on to the street on a Saturday afternoon always brings a feel good atmosphere.
“Last year we were pleased with the level of entries, it brought lots of music out on to the streets and response and feedback was excellent. ”.
“ShopLK is all about enjoying the best shopping experience in Letterkenny and we want our regular customers and visitors to the town to really enjoy what Letterkenny has to offer. This type of event that is funded through the Retail Promotion initiative from Donegal County Council makes happy shoppers and creates a real buzz and we know there will be tight competition for the top spot.”
