Naomh Columba 1-17 V 2-06. Mac Cools. The Glen lads lead by eleven points from Aaron Doherty proved too strong for Mac Cools to take their first Minor A title in many a year. They dominated from start to finish in a very impressive performance which was never in doubt from early in the game. The game produced a lively start with a glut of scores in the opening fifteen minutes , most of the by Noamh Columba but the best from Mc Cools Oisín Gallen. Aaron Doherty started as he meant to go on with two points from frees with Gallen replying with a free for McCools. Then in the 8th minute Doherty burst through the defence, passed to Ronan O Hare who set up Dillon Kelly for an easy tap in to the net. Lanty Molloy kicked a fine point from play to make it 1-03 to 0-01 and then Oisín Gallen decided something needed to be done and produced a super goal when he raced sixty yards beating five defenders and drilled the ball low to the corner of the net. Naomh Columba replied with four points in row, three from Aaron Doherty and one from Lanty Molloy to make it 1-07 to 1-01. Chad Mc Sorley got Mc Cools first point from play in the 17th minute but Naomh Columba responded with five in a row, two from Doherty to make it seven from himself, and one each from James Heena and Eric Carr and Lanty Molloy’s third of the half, to leave a ten point gap at the break 1-12 to 1-02. Oisín Gallen’s free got the second-half scoring but Mc Cools had a let-off when Doherty and Heena combined to set up Michael Lyons but his goalbound was blocked on the line by Jack Burke, Doherty converted the 45. Mc Cools hit back with their second goal, Gallen did the hard work and set up Aaron Gilooley to palm the ball to the net, 1-13 to 2-03. Aaron Doherty kicked a 45 and then a brilliant point off his left foot.
