A gang carried out a smash and grab raid on one of Letterkenny’s most popular coffee shops overnight.
The thieves smashed their way through the front door of the popular Counter deli and coffee shop at Canal Road, close to Marks and Spencer.
Once inside the gang stole the restaurant’s cash register and its contents.
The deli is owned and operated by popular by well-known businessman Richard Finney who transformed the shop from the former Wine Buff premises.
Mr Finney has worked extremely hard in building up trade at the store which has become extremely popular with the people of the Cathedral Town.
Mr Finney could be seen at the store this morning cleaning broken glass away from the front of the premises.
Gardai have preserved the scene and will carry out a full forensic examination later today.
They are also hopeful of catching images of the culprits on local CCTV.
