Naomh Colmcille GAA club are hosting a fun run and walk for one of their coaches and his family following a house fire in Newtowncunningham.
Under 10s coach Tony Simmons and his family’s home and contents suffered severe damage following a house fire last Saturday night.
Naomh Colmcille GAA club have banded together to help Tony and his family in any way possible.
Tony has been a coach for around five years, and is thought of very highly in the club by his peers and his U10 squad.
One of Tony’s children, who is on the U10s team at the club, has lost a lot of things in the fire that other little girls her age have such as toys and clothes.
The GAA club hope they can help to provide her with these things once more; as well as helping Tony with household costs and to replace possessions he lost in the fire also.
The Fun Run will take place on Thursday at 7pm, starting at Donegal Airsoft. Participants will complete a 5K loop and refreshments will be served after. Although the course is not chipped, timings will still be recorded.
The entry fee is €10 for adults, €5 for children, and €20 for a family.
A spokesperson for Naomh Colmcille GAA says that they are expecting a huge turn out, and that there will also be collection buckets on the streets on Thurday night.
“Any donation is very greatly appreciated, any amount helps.”
The committee sincerely thank anyone that can help in any way and are appreciative for the community’s support.
