Donegal ETB Accounting Technicians Ireland learners are celebrating fantastic exam results having achieved a 100% pass rate in their four Year 2 exams.
Their results are even more striking when compared to the national pass rates in the four subject areas: Advanced Financial Accounting (national pass rate 69%), Advanced Taxation (national pass rate 68%), Management Accounting (national pass rate 87%), Integrated Accounting Systems (national pass rate 84%).
In particular, the learners exceeded the national average by over 30% in Advanced Financial Accounting and Advanced Taxation, with seven of the nine learners obtaining an overall Distinction.
Learner Noel Boyle, who previously worked in kitchen manufacturing, ranked inside the top 1% in the country by coming 7th out of 804 learners nationally who sat the exams.
Two of Noel’s classmates also achieved maximum marks; Aine McNeilis achieved 100% in Management Accounting and ranked 25th out of 804 nationally and Declan Callaghan achieved 100% in Integrated Accounting Systems (IAS) and ranked 49th out of 804 nationally.
Their achievements were marked by a special presentation this week from Donegal ETB Chief Executive Anne McHugh.
For course instructor Rory Rushe, this is the first time he has had a second year class where every learner has passed every exam they sat in every subject.
“To have all nine students pass all four subjects is a special moment for me as their instructor. It is a great reflection of the hard work and resilience of all the learners,” he said.
In addition, the ETB’s Year 1 Accounting Technician learners (delivered for Donegal ETB by the National Learning Network), also achieved exceptional pass rates in their four subject areas of Business Management (92% pass rate compared to 81% nationally), Financial Accounting (100% pass rate compared to 63% nationally), Law and Ethics (92% pass rate compared to 62% nationally) and Taxation (92% pass rate compared to 77% nationally). In particular, the fact that the pass rate for Financial Accounting and Law and Ethics exceeded the national average rate by over 30% is a remarkable achievement.
Donegal ETB will host walk-in information sessions on the Accounting Technician course on Tuesdays 18 and 25 July at 11.00am and 3.00pm in the Donegal ETB Training Centre, Ballyraine, Letterkenny.
