Job Vacancy: Buncrana Credit Union (BCU) is seeking a Credit Manager. Reporting to the CEO, the Credit Manager will be a key member of the Management Team and will be responsible for the management of the lending function.
The Credit Manager will be accountable and responsible for the following:
- managing the lending function and loans staff, ensuring loan applications are assessed within the policies, lending limits and criteria established by the Board of Directors;
- monitoring and reporting on the quality of the loan portfolio, including risk profile assessment;
- ensuring underwriting standards are sufficiently high and are consistently applied to provide assurance to the CEO and Board of Directors that credit risk remains within the risk appetite established by the Board of Directors;
- ensuring the lending function satisfactorily passes future internal and/or external audits or inspections;
- driving improvements and efficiencies in loan processes; and
- delivering strategic objectives as they relate to the lending function.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- At least five years’ personal lending underwriting experience;
- Experience of underwriting self-employed individuals;
- At least five years’ management experience;
- A third level qualification, ideally in business or a related field;
- A professional qualification satisfying Minimum Competency requirements;
- Strong credit analysis and credit underwriting skills;
- Ability to assess, critically evaluate and interpret complex information and to identify key credit risk drivers;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- Financial & computer literacy;
- A self-starter with strong time management, good organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload;
- Ability to perform well independently and also work in and create a team environment; and
- Experience of or full appreciation of the culture of credit unions.
This position is a full time fixed term contract for a period of one year. A competitive salary and benefit package will be on offer.
