An English man has launched an appeal to find his father who he believes to be from Donegal.
David Scott was born on the 11th of November 1976 to Julie Dixon in Lynemouth, Northumberland, England.
Although David has asked his mother Julie for information, her refusal unfortunately led to the disintegration of their relationship.
After exhausting all avenues, forty long years have passed without any information.
David’s partner Carly Golsbury got in touch with Donegal Daily, and said that David has always wanted to know his father’s name.
The only information that David has was told to him by a close family friend. The friend says that his father’s name is either Bobby or Benny, and that he is from Donegal. They also said that his father worked at Alcan Power Station, Northumberland, England, and had a brief relationship with Julie Dixon at the beginning of 1976.
Carly explained to Donegal Daily; “All he has ever wanted to know is who this man is, he doesn’t want anything just to know this man’s name to fill a hole in his life that’s always been there.
“Forty years is a long time to wonder who you are and where you came from. David would love the closure of knowing at least his father’s name.
“David spent many years asking Julie about his father but she still refused to give him any answers, this resulted in the end of their relationship. David asked his grandfather but still received no answers, unfortunately his grandfather passed away a short while later. Life carried on for David and he came to terms with not knowing his father. He explored every option he could think of.
“Forty long years passed with no answers.”
During David’s childhood, he believed that his mother’s partner was his biological father, and did not understand why his sister still got to see his ‘dad’ after his ‘parents’ split up.
“David was a happy healthy child living with his mother, her partner (who David was led to believe was his dad) and his baby sister. David had no reason to doubt this man was his father, they had the same surname and lived together as a family.
“Until this man left David’s life, he continued to see his daughter and David recalls wondering why he could never go with his ‘dad’. He later found out this man wasn’t his biological father and that David’s surname had been changed at a young age.”
Carly explains that the lack of information on his father deeply troubled David as a boy; and still there continues to be a void in his life.
“David began to question who his father was and why he couldn’t see him, he never received any answers to these questions. Life carried on with a huge void in David’s life, David rebelled from a young age, leaving school and home at twelve, he moved in with his grandfather and began to find his feet in the world.
“He did odd jobs for locals in the village to pay his way in life and saved up every penny he could to buy himself a horse, with this horse he began to go around the village selling fruit and vegetables to the locals.
“David later settled down and had two children of his own before buying his own fruit and vegetable shop.”
David’s children ask about their grandfather; but unfortunately he has no answers.
“There continued to be a void in David’s life, he didn’t have the answers when his children asked about their grandfather, he had no answers when there was any medical questions about family history.
“David spent many years asking Julie about his father but she still refused to give him any answers, this resulted in the end of their relationship. David asked his grandfather but still received no answers, unfortunately his grandfather passed away a short while later.”
“Unfortunately like I say the information we have is small but we are praying somebody somewhere knows something,” Carly concluded.
