Ardara man Ronan Whyte has been progressing fantastically at the World U18 and U21 Snooker Championship in China.
This morning, Ronan played against his German opponent, and won 3-1!
Ronan is now preparing to take on his next opponent from Thailand tomorrow at 3am (Irish time). If he triumphs in this match he will go through to the next round.
Independent Councillor Micheal Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig has wished Ronan luck, saying; “Regardless of the results we are all very proud of this young man who is doing Donegal proud.”
The Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) are hosting a series of events in Beijing between the 7th and 16th of July, with the best snooker players from across the globe making the trip to China to compete.
Five of Ireland’s best young snooker players have made the trip to China, with Ronan being joined by fellow Irish men Noel Landers and Darragh Cusack in the under 18 section, and Shane Bates and Aarron Holland in the under 21 section.
Ádh mór Ronan!
