Lettermacaward super-lightweight Shaun McShane scored a points win last night in Scotland to improve his pro record to 5-4-1.
McShane overcame Alec Bazza from Belfast at The Knights of St Columba Social Club in Glasgow.
McShane has been out of action since losing to Eddie Doyle for the Scottish super-lightweight title last October.
But McShane returned to winning ways last night. In a four-rounder on the Prospect Boxing card, McShane was the unanimous points winner.
“I was a bit rusty, but that was to be expected,” McShane said. “It was nice to come back and get the win in my tenth fight. It was a good, comfortable win. Alec was a tough wee boy, but I got the rounds in which is what I needed.
“I have a lot of fitness to get back, but hopefully I’ll get there.”
McShane is now sponsored by The Limelight Nightclub in Glenties, who have joined Gorbals Tyre Centre, The Brazen Head and GM Flooring as his backers.
McShane now hopes to return to the ring and tentative talks about a September bout in Belfast have already taken place.
McShane said: “We’ve been talking to the promoter. Belfast is the plan so hopefully we can get that sorted.”
