There is an incredible atmosphere in Whoriskey’s EuroSpar in Ramelton as they celebrate selling the winning Euromillions Plus ticket worth a whopping €500,000.
Speaking to Donegal Daily, proprietor John Whoriskey says that he is delighted with the news and that there is an air of excitement in the shop this afternoon as people come in to check their tickets.
“It’s great news, everyone is delighted in the shop!
“The Lotto called last night, I thought it was someone taking the mickey out of me! They rang again this morning and talked us through everything and said that they are coming up next week for photographs.
“This is the biggest winner we’ve had, we have had a lot of customers on Winning Streak, and a few winners of €5,000 between scratch cards and lotto tickets.
John says that he hopes it is a local person who scooped the jackpot, and that no one has yet come forward to claim the prize.
“There are a lot of people passing through going towards holiday homes in Downings and Portsalon, and people coming down from Letterkenny due to the traffic so it could be anyone.”
The lucky winner of the €500,000 does not have to split the cash, scooping the full jackpot.
The winning numbers were 16, 17, 43, 47, 49.
