It is hoped that a landslide caused by a flash flood in Fintown is to be cleared by tomorrow.
The flood occurred when heavy rainfall struck Fintown, Ballybofey and Stranorlar on Tuesday evening.
In Fintown, around half a dozen homes and Norton’s pub were damaged by the flood, with the R252 connecting Glenties and Letterkenny being impassible for some time before Glenties Fire Service attended the scene and pumped the water away.
This landslide occurred in the Meenasrone North area, with the road now inaccessible until it is cleared.
Speaking to Donegal Daily, a spokesperson for Donegal County Council says; “The road at Meenasrone remains closed, high flood levels prevented access to the site of the landslide.
“It will likely be Friday at best before this road can be reopened provided that we’re satisfied that there’s no risk of further landslides.”
