Dempsey McGuigan finished in a credible sixth position in the hammer throw today at the European Athletics Team Championships First League in Vaasa, Finland.
The Finn Valley AC man and University of Mississippi student reached out to a best of 65.72 metres.
The attempt was a little off his 70.55m personal best.
David Soderberg of Finland was the top performer with 72.36m.
Recently, McGuigan came tenth in the NCAA Championships when he threw a 69.14m.
McGuigan is one of four Donegal athletes to take part in Finland this weekend.
Tomorrow, Mark English (800m), Sommer Lecky (high jump) and Ann-Marie McGlynn (5,000m) are in action.
The Irish team is managed by Finn Valley AC’s Patsy McGonagle.
