The Killybegs Coast Guard were called to rescue two people last night at Fintra Beach who were not wearing lifejackets.
Coast Guard workers received a report yesterday of two kayakers who were out at sea and had not returned in over an hour.
A combined operation involving Sligo’s Search and Rescue Helicopter – Rescue 118, Bundoran Lifeboat service, Killybegs Coast Guard and Malin Head Coast Guard was required to locate the people and bring them to safety.
Killybegs Coast Guard provided the kayakers with lifejackets and escorted them back to shore. They issued a warning to all people to take care in the waters and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
They urged everyone using the waters to be vigilant, always wear a lifejacket and tell someone where they are going and what time they expect to return.
