With Father’s Day just two days away, many of us are scrambling for last minute pairs of socks and aftershave.
Lacking inspiration? Here are six ideas on how you can treat your dad this Sunday:
(1) Take him to the match. Donegal is set to take on Tyrone on Sunday, with kickoff at 2.00 pm in St. Tiernach’s Park in Clones. With a close score expected, this re-match of last year’s Ulster final is bound to be an enjoyable day out for GAA mad dads.
(2) Treat him to a carvery lunch. This week over 1,000 of our readers voted for the top ten places spots across the county to get a delicious carvery lunch, with The Silver Tassie Hotel in Letterkenny pulling the top spot.
(3) Explore the world-famous landmarks on your doorstep. In Donegal we have been graced with the title Coolest Place on the Planet, Ireland’s hidden gem, and Donegal is also home to Ireland’s top hidden beach. Why not bring your dad out for a spin to one of our gorgeous landmarks? Fanad Head, Slieve League, Glenveagh, Mount Errigal… after all, the weather is set to be glorious this weekend.
(4) Check out the Donegal Rally. The Joule Donegal International Rally takes this place this weekend, with thousands visiting Donegal for the event.
If you can’t get out to the event, don’t fret! Be sure to check out our live coverage anchored by Charlie Collins, with Chris McNulty and Toni Kelly providing the end-of-stage and service reports. Find out how to tune in by clicking here.
(5) Make something thoughtful. Think of something you know he will appreciate, like putting his favourite feel-good songs onto a CD that he can have handy in the car, or dig out your old baby photos and make a collage or put them in a nice picture frame.
(6) Completely strapped for cash? Instead of buying him something, why not make him breakfast in bed, put on the fire, and treat him to a pint in the evening? It truly is the thought that counts.
Happy father’s day to all the Donegal dads!
