Finn Harps have been hit hard with suspensions as four players are set to miss Friday night’s clash with Shamrock Rovers.
After a week’s break, the suspensions come in a double blow for Harps with Ethan Boyle, Caolan McAleer, Damien McNulty and Danny Morrissey all banned for the visit of the Hoops.
At a press conference yesterday, Harps manager Ollie Horgan said: “If we didn’t have the free week on Friday, some of the suspensions might have come into effect, but the way it works out now we’re without a raft of men this week. It’s not ideal and it’s probably not fair – but that’s just the way it is.”
Boyle and McNulty are suspended after reaching five yellow cards while McAleer has been punished for reaching eight bookings.
Morrissey (pictured) was sent off late in the recent 3-2 win over Limerick. The Cork man sat out the scoreless draw with Sligo a fortnight ago and now has to miss Friday’s game against Rovers too.
Stephen Bradley’s Rovers will also be without four players who are suspended with Graham Burke, Trevor Clarke, David McAllister and David Webster all out.
Meanwhile, Rob Harvey has been confirmed as the referee for Friday’s game.
