The recipients of the 2017 John Carlin Primary School Athletics Awards were Abbie Mc Granaghan of St Mary’s Castlefinn, Blaine Lynch of St. Pats Castlederg and Sarah Bradley of Gael Scoil Leitir Ceanainn.
The recipients were stand out competitors in the recent athletics finals at Finn Valley in which 1,300 youngsters came from 87 schools and were the culmination of regional qualifying heats which engaged close to 4,000 children.
It marks a great honour not only for the youngsters involved but for the school and parents all of whom have embraced the project.

John’s family was be represented by Sean Carlin; a former National Senior Champion, accompanied by Irish Olympic Team Manager Patsy Mc Gonagle.
The award ceremonies were held in each of the schools yesterday, attended by parents, family members and school athletics coaches.
