A Co Donegal is behind one of the most unique festivals set for Ireland later this month.
The Irish Game Fair & Fine Food Festival, Ireland’s largest & longest established country sports event takes place on the 24th & 25th June 2017 at Shanes Castle Country Antrim.
In final preparations for the event is Game Fair Director Steven McGonigal from Carndonagh.
The event first held 1978 has grown to become Ireland’s largest Country Sports event and hosts a weekend of Country Sports including fishing, shooting & a variety of dog competitions & titles with competitors from England, Scotland & Wales.
Family entertainment is the top of the bill and with Medieval Jousting, Western Riding, Falconry, fly casting & many have a go activities from catching your own fish, archery & laser clay shooting to a huge collective of Fine Food Producers.
Steven, who began his Game Fair career as the “Notorious Victorian Poacher” over ten years ago demonstrating the age old ways of Long Netting Rabbits which he continues today alongside his recently appointed Directorship with the company has been involved in country sports since a child and is Irelands only professional Rabbit Catcher.
He has written & published several country sports books and continues to write for several magazines both at home and abroad.
