Broadcaster Ryan Tubridy has had plenty of fun during his adventures on Arranmore Island off Co. Donegal.
The presenter took his radio show to the northern part of the Wild Atlantic Way today for some unique experiences and stories from rural Ireland. Many of his escapades were documented online in the past 24 hours, with some highlights including a kickaround in a giant bumper ball!
Tubs presented a live edition of The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio 1 from the island this morning with many local guests. He thanked the “good people of Arranmore” for giving him the “warmest welcome imaginable”. On the show, he talked to fisherman Jim Muldowney, Fr Liam Boyle, parish priest, Jerry Early of Early’s Bar and Daniel O’Donnell by phone from the USA.
Tubridy arrived in Donegal in style on Sunday by flying over Carrickfinn Airport – recently voted the second most scenic landing strip in the world.
Ryan then live-streamed his arrival on the island via Facebook and proudly showed off a placard he received for steering the Blue Ferry to port. He got a very warm welcome from the islanders with a live music performance just for him.
He was allowed to navigate the Red Ferry back to the mainland. Other experiences he had on Donegal’s coast were spotting a real basking shark in the waters and trying his hand at fishing.
The presenter was clearly impressed with his Donegal welcome. You can listen to the full radio show here: www.rte.ie/radio1/ryan-tubridy/#2498722
