A Donegal County Councillor has pleaded with parents to ask their children to respect their local environment after a group of teenagers left a trail of destruction behind them.
A windscreen was smashed, a ‘little library’ was ransacked and a beach littered at Stragill Beach in Buncrana last night.
The destruction was caused by a group of up to a dozen teenagers who camped on the beach before wreaking havoc in the area.
After wrecking the area, the group then burned down a tent and left it on the beach.
Local councillor Jack Murray pleaded for parents to educate their children that this is not the way to treat their local environment.
“It’s just a complete mess. We know it was caused by teenagers because they were spotted in the area.
“I would ask parents to educate their children and to show them how to have respect for their natural amenities and the beautiful world we have around us here in Donegal.
“Buncrana is doing very well in the Tody Towns competition but when something like this happens, it just brings the whole area down,” he said.
