Relay for Life Donegal has been ongoing for 21 hours, with the event due to finish at 4:45pm this evening.
Relay for Life is a 24 hour event which brings the community together to celebrate people who have survived a cancer diagnosis, remember those lost to the disease and bring the community together to fight back against cancer.
This is the sixth annual Relay for Life Donegal, with hundreds of people traveling to Letterkenny Institute of Technology to participate in fundraising, celebrating, and remembrance walks.
This year all funds will go towards the ongoing research at Letterkenny University Hospital, which will directly benefit Donegal cancer patients.
During the night a touching Candle of Hope ceremony took place, with participants lighting luminaries around the track in honour of, and in memory of, loved ones who have fought cancer.
Remaining lit throughout the night, the candles lit the way for participants as they continued their walk into the early hours of Sunday morning.
As a participant stays on the track at any given time, the event symbolises that cancer never sleeps.
This afternoon volunteers donated their hair for the Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.
Volunteers that donated included; Bronagh McBride, Saoirse McBride, Caitriona Lynch, Alanna Cannon, Kirsty Harron, Kyle Harron, Briyanna McGee, Sophie Gallagher, Aoife Gallagher, Anita Gallagher, Katie Hasson, Alexandra Elursa, Nicola Tourish Reynolds, Kaylagh Sweeney, Niamh Walsh, Grainne Harkin, Caela Carr, Alana Clarke, Dina Doherty and Elaine Doherty.
