Picture special: Oscar Traynor Cup disappointment for Inishowen League in close final

There was no joy for the Inishowen League in today’s Oscar Traynor Trophy final as Clare District League claimed narrow 1-0 win at Maginn Park.

Eoin Hayes, who is set to go with the Republic of Ireland to the Regions Cup in Turkey later this year, bagged the only goal of the game in the 48th minute.

Inishowen, appearing in their third final in recent years, couldn’t draw level despite a series of chances in the second half.

Sub Matthew Henry hit the post with their closest attempt, but it was a disappointing day for the Diarmuid O’Brien-managed team.
