Improvement works at Dunfanaghy Health Centre have been given the green light while a final decision for a new centre is expected in next two weeks.
The move has been welcomed by Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher.
He said “Following my recent representations to the HSE, I am glad I can confirm approval for remedial and improvement works to be carried out at Dunfanaghy Health Centre, the works are ongoing and will bring the existing centre up to an appropriate standard while final approval will be given for a new centre, which the HSE lead me to believe, will be in the next two to three weeks.”
Pat the Cope added that it is welcomed news, as the current situation was far from satisfactory.
He said he has been lobbying the HSE on the matter in conjunction along with the local action group.
He added “It will be of critical importance that the HSE now complete the appraisal on the new building and proceed to allow for a new health centre at Dunfanaghy without undue delay.”
He concluded that while this is progress, the task is not complete until such time as the new centre is sanctioned and delivered for the people and community of Dunfanaghy.
