Stage four of An Post Rás 2017 took riders into the heart of Donegal yesterday for some incredibly challenging climbs.
The 151.8km stage stretched from Bundoran to Buncrana, and one of five categorised climbs went over the threatening Mamore Gap. This ascent was just 10km from the finish line, and it is only through this overhead footage that you can see how truly steep the route is.
Michael Storer of the Australia National Team took the solo victory. Storer crossed the line one minute and fifty five seconds over second place Jacob Sitler (USA CCB Velotooler) with Morgan Kneiskey (France Armée de Terre) claiming third spot. Tuesday’s stage three winner, Irishman Matthew Teggart finished just on Kneisky’s shoulder, topping the general classification (GC) and becoming the new yellow jersey leader today.
Today (Thursday) is Stage 5 and the longest route of An Ras at 181.2km from Buncrana to Dungloe.
