A man’s body recovered from the Foyle this morning has been identified as Sam Comber, a swimmer who went missing six days ago.
In a statement issued this morning, PSNI Foyle said; “Foyle Search & Rescue have this morning; recovered a body from the River Foyle. Identified by the family as Sam Comber.
“The family would like to thank everyone involved for their help and support. They have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
Sam was last seen on Sunday last, and during the search PSNI Inspector Marty Mullan outlined that the 39-year-old bought items from a supermarket in the Quayside area at around 2:25pm, before making his way to the Peace Bridge on his bike. His bike was later found in a lay-by in the Newbuildings area.
