A man was caught allegedly carrying out a lewd act in a car while in close proximity to a park in which children were playing.

The incident, which occurred near the park in Buncrana, has outraged locals.

A member of the public noticed what the man was doing in the car on Thursday last and reported it to Gardaí.

The witness then set about raising awareness so as parents in Donegal can be vigilant and keep a close eye out for suspicious activity.

The witness says “I feel sick to my stomach thinking about it.

“There was a strange car parked outside the park, looking into the children playing. As we walked past the car we could see a man, with his seat pulled the whole way backing, laying performing a sexual act to himself over the children in the park.

“We weren’t sure if we seen this correctly so we walked past a few times, and yes we were correct.

“So my friend rang the the Garda, when they arrived and escorted him out of the car he was only in his boxers.”

Gardai confirmed that a man in his 40s was arrested at the location for alleged drink driving man and is due to appear at Buncrana District Court later this month.

Donegal Daily understand that the man is on the sex offenders register in Northern Ireland.

If you notice any suspicious activity please do not hesitate to call Buncrana Garda Station on 074 9320540.
