The lucky Donegal winner of a joint jackpot in Saturday’s lotto draw will have a merry journey ahead as they go to pick up their €6million winnings.
The National Lottery have said that both winners from the massive €12.3million Lotto jackpot have made contact to arrange to collect their share of the prize.
On Sunday, the National Lottery revealed that the winning tickets were sold in Mickey Joe’s Country Store, Umlagh, Carrigart, Co Donegal and Topaz Service Station, Dublin Road, Athlone, Co Westmeath.
Intense mystery and excitement surrounds Carrigart as locals try to suss out who is going to be flush with cash very soon.
The busy town would have seen many visitors and tourists passing through on a sunny weekend, so the winner could be celebrating from afar or sitting in the village now planning their money-filled future.
Mickey Joe’s Country Store owner Mickey Joe Gallagher and his staff popped some bubbly yesterday as they celebrated the good fortune that passed through their shop.
The massive rollover jackpot was the second largest sum to be won this year. As two tickets had the winning numbers, two people or syndicates will be collecting €6,172,404 each. Both tickets were from Quick Pick play.
The winning numbers are as follows: 3, 7, 17, 21, 22 and 28, and the Bonus number is 2.
