The Swilly Seals had a magnificent weekend in the National Finals of the Community Games at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin yesterday.
Kyle Mc Cauley Dalton, Kayla Singaroyan, Maeve Mc Clean and Lauren Hall had excellent swims.
Making the finals in the national top 10 were;
Johnny Lambe 10th u14 Fly
Sean Pascaul 10th u16 Backstroke
Thomas Keys 9th u16 Freestyle
Ita Mc Gee 9th u10 Freestyle
Isabelle Miranda 8th u12 Breaststroke
Grainne Russell 7th u16 Fly
Oisin Sheridan 7th u14 Backstroke
Ellie Maloney 6th u14 Backstroke
Eoin Bonar 5th u14 Freestyle
Cillian Murphy 5th u12 Breaststroke
As usual the team relays were as exciting as ever and one of Donegals strongest events.
The u16 Girls Medley relay consisting of Kira Mills, Bronagh Sheridan, Molly Nulty, Ellie Maloney and Alicia Miranda won Bronze in an exciting final.
The Boys u16 Medley relay made up of Sean Pascaul, Cian Mulligan, Thomas Keys, Eoin Bonar, Conor Shiels and Oisin Sheridan stormed into the Gold medals in a highly competitive race.
The Marlins of Ballyshannon took Silver in the u13 boys freestyle relay and the girls lifted gold in a super fast final, so all four Donegal teams placing in the top three.
Dylan Singaroyan won a 4th place medal in the u10 25m Freestyle in an exciting race.
Orla Malseed won a 4th place medal in the u10 25m Backstroke a great achievement for the young swimmer.
Shay Maloney won Silver in the u12 Backstroke with a massive effort.
Molly Nulty won Silver in the u14 Breaststroke having won Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke at the Ulster age groups.
Cody Dunnion won Gold in the 50m Breaststroke having only just won Gold in the 100m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke in the Ulster age groups recently.
Well done to all swimmers who put on another fine display of swimming at this year’s national finals.
A big thanks to the Donegal and National Community Games committee for another brilliant weekend of competition and a special one it being the 50th anniversary games.
