Whether you are about to take the Leaving Certificate, currently unemployed, interested in part-time study, or thinking of studying on one of the many Postgraduate programmes at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT), then you need to attend the LYIT Open Evening on Thursday 11 May from 2-7pm at the Letterkenny and Killybegs campuses.
From full-time to part-time programmes, Springboard programmes for the unemployed, to an extensive suite of Postgraduate programmes, LYIT has a lot on offer in 2017.
For the Leaving Certificate student, there are 49 CAO programmes to choose from, with over half of these offering work placement opportunities, some of which can be taken abroad. The student experience is also not to be missed at LYIT, with 50 clubs, societies, and sporting activities to choose from.
For the unemployed, LYIT has a full complement of Springboard courses available, specifically geared towards upskilling the unemployed. These courses, will commence in August and September 2017, and are aimed at unemployed persons who, subject to meeting certain criteria, will retain any payments they are in receipt of from the Department of Social Protection for the duration of their programme of study. No course fees will be charged to eligible applicants.
If you are interested in studying a Postgraduate or Masters programme, then LYIT has more than 20 programmes to choose from; programmes that will enhance your skills and take you to next level in your career. A scholarship scheme entitled ‘Pushing Boundaries’ is also available to students who apply to complete a full-time Postgraduate Masters, and who are not in receipt of other financial support.
Billy Bennett, Registrar at LYIT, commented, “Very often, financing a Postgraduate Masters is the biggest barrier to completing it. At LYIT, ‘Pushing Boundaries’ is an initiative that will hopefully mitigate that barrier and will provide talented and driven individuals with the opportunity to obtain a Masters level qualification that will further enhance their career prospects and opportunities.”
More details on the ‘Pushing Boundaries’ initiative and other Scholarship opportunities can be found on www.lyit.ie
