The Finn Valley Centre and Athletic Club have been at the heart of community in the Twin Towns and surrounding Finn Valley area for many years.
In recent times the centre has developed a website which promotes the work of the organisation and provides support to community groups by promoting their events and work in the community.
It is with this community ethos in mind that the centre embarked on the Community Hero project which culminated in a reception for the original twelve nominees. This project highlighted the work done by individuals who contributed to their respective groups by volunteering and fundraising etc.
The Community Hero project was established to promote the work of all community groups in the area through highlighting the work of a nominated member, and also to acknowledge the tremendous effort that they, as individuals have given.
This is the second year of the awards and over the past 12 months a Community Hero has been selected each month representing a range of different groups who have all added positively to life in the general Finn Valley region.
To this end the Finn Valley Centre will hold a reception evening, incorporating a presentation ceremony, to celebrate the great work done by these community representatives. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
The event takes place this Friday at 5pm.
