Fire-crews battle major gorse fire in Fintown

Five fire appliances battled for more than three hours to bring a major gorse fire under control last night.

Eye-witnesses told Donegal Daily that there was a large area destroyed in the fire which broke out around 10pm in the Fintown area.

At one stage the fire came close to houses but no property was damaged in the end.

A total of five fire appliances were drafted in to fight the fire including two from Letterkenny and others from Dungloe, Glenties and Stranorlar.

The cause fo the fire is still not yet known. The fire was eventually brought under control around 1am.
