Double Olympian Brendan Boyce will compete for the first time as a Finn Valley athlete next month in the Czech Republic.
The Milford man was this week named on the Irish team for the 50k Walk at the World Championships to be held in London in August.
Boyce, who competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, had been previously aligned to Letterkenny AC, but in recent times he has swapped singlet.
“This is a key time for Brendan’s career as he builds ultimately towards Tokyo in 2020 and more immediately the European Walk Cup in Czech Republic next month, so we welcome Brendan into the club,” said Finn Valley AC’s Patsy McGonagle, the Irish Athletics Team Manager.
McGonagle will manage the Irish team for the Walks Cup in Podebrady in late May, with Rob Heffernan – the World Champion from Moscow – Alex Wright and Cian McMenamin.
Another Finn Valley AC man, Eddie Gallen, has been named as captain of the Irish Ultra 24-hour team for the World Championships in July. These Championships will be held in July and will be Gallen’s 32nd ultra challenge.
