Gardai are investigating a spate of burglaries in the Lifford to Manorcunningham areas in recent days.

It is suspected the burglaries could be the work of two opportunist thieves who are operating in the area.

It is understood that a large sum of money was taken in one of the raids.

A number of houses were burgled between 11am and 4pm yesterday (Tues).

Local county councillor Paul Canning has appealed to residents to remain vigilant.

“I would appeal to everyone to be vigilant in securing their property, even for the shortest of Journeys. I would urge anyone with information that could lead to the capture of these thugs to contact the Gardai in Letterkenny.

“I would also ask anyone that has access to CCTV or any recording security device to check for movements of certain suspicious vehicles in this vicinity around the times of these burglaries.”
