A young man who attacked a Garda car after coming out of Letterkenny Garda station has been told to pay €400 to Gardai.
Conor Colhoun left the Garda station in the early hours of the morning and then kicked a wing mirror off the car and also caused dents to the vehicle.
He appeared at Letterkenny District Court on a charge of criminal damage.
Garda Inspector Barry Doyle said the damage to the patrol car had been put at between €200 and €400.
Gardai said he continued to be uncooperative when arrested.
Judge Paul Kelly asked Colhoun, aged 21, of Beechwood Grove, Letterkenny, if he thought it was okay to kick Garda cars and he said ‘no.’
Colhoun told the court that he was not working but was on long-term disability allowance.
Judge Kelly adjourned the case until June 26th but ordered Colhoun to pay €400 in compensation and said he would deal with the matter “leniently” if that was done.
