Drogheda United assistant manager John Gill feels that last night’s win over Finn Harps could be a defining night for the County Louth side.
It is generally accepted that Harps and Drogheda will be two of the sides battling for Premier Division survival at the season’s end.
Despite having a six-game losing streak, after winning their opening two games, Drogheda moved above Harps with last night’s win.
“It’s a massive three points,” Gill, standing in for manager Pete Mahon in the post-match media duties, said.
“These are the games you have to take three points from. No disrespect to ourselves and Harps, but we’ll be scrapping down there.”
It was a completely different Drogheda to the side that lost 3-0 to Limerick last Saturday.
Gill said: “We wanted a reaction to last week. We were very poor last week. All week, it was about getting a reaction. Last week was very disappointing and unacceptable, but we stood up and were counted.”
