An elderly man was shocked and heartbroken this week to discover he had lost a Claddagh ring of huge sentimental value in Letterkenny.
The ring was a much-loved gift from the man’s wife, who sadly passed away last November. He had worn the ring for years as a beloved wedding ring.
The man made the devastating realisation when he was discharged from Letterkenny University Hospital on Tuesday after a lengthy stay. He had been a patient at the hospital for a month, and it was only when he got home that he noticed it was gone.
The man’s daughters have been doing all they can to find the ring. They have made enquiries at LUH but nothing was found.
The Claddagh ring is described as gold, handmade and heavy. with a wide band.
A daughter said that she last saw her father wearing the ring when she visited him on Monday 10th April. The family are praying it will be found as it carries a huge amount of personal importance.
They are appealing for everyone in the area around the hospital to look out for the ring and if they have any information to contact 087 9665336.
