They don’t want to make a drama out of it but a Ballybofey theatre group are looking for their missing props back!
Way back in 1982 when rehearsing The Miracle Worker in the Butt Hall, a medical doctor’s bag was required for the doctor character in the play.
The late Dr. Kee was asked for the loan of a medical bag. The doctor was a regular playgoer in the Butt and later the Old Balor so he not just loaned the bag but told us to keep it for further productions and so it was many times.
The bag moved with the drama club from the Butt Hall to the old Balor and again to the new Balor. Alas after the flood all doors were left open in order to dry out the basement and store where the bag was kept and the bag disappeared.
So it seems someone ‘borrowed’ the bag and forgot to return it. The Butt Drama Circle would dearly love to have Dr. Kee’s back, it means much more to the Club than just a prop and so if any reader knows it’s whereabouts would they please arranged to have the bag returned to it’s rightful home.
But it’s not the only prop which has gone missing over the years.
Also quite a number of costumes have gone awol over the years including about fifteen 50’s style skirts, wide skirts with polka dots, probably borrowed for the Strictly Dancing competitions which were popular a few years ago.
A spokesman said “So we would appeal to anyone who ever borrowed a costume to please return it. Because of the foregoing new protocols have had to be put in place so in future anyone borrowing a costume will be asked to leave a deposit of €50 which will be repaid upon return of the costume less a fee of €10 per costume which is needed for cleaning and maintenance of the costumes.
“There are two keyholders to the Costume room and would be borrowers will need to make an appointment with one of them. The phone nos. can be obtained from the Box Office.”
