Newtowncunningham Community Playgroup’s new building was officially opened by the children that attend the playgroup this week.
Pauline Bonner, the manager of Newtowncunningham Community Playgroup said; “This facility is a community-based playgroup and at the minute we have 44 children in the morning and another 10 in the afternoon.
“We offer the children a variety of activities. We have two rooms that offer child-centred play, the children are focused on playing either independently or playing together.”
There is also an array of fantastic outdoor facilities that allows the children to explore and engage in a lot of exercise!
Elaine O’Donnell remarked that the new building makes it feel like a whole new job.
“We’re always looking at what’s best for the children, it’s all about them, we’re always training, always going to the best practice, anything we can do that makes it better for the children.”
Elaine also said that the playgroup brings the community together as the numbers are so large.
There was also a budding journalist interviewing his classmates on why they like attending the playground, and got the inside scoop on what their favourite toys are!
The consensus gathered by our fledgling journalist is that going to the playgroup is quite simply a lot of fun.
Pauline also wished to thank the staff down through the years that have worked tirelessly for the Newtowncunningham Community Playgroup. She also said that she must thank Sarah Carlin in particular for her hard work.
