Donegal County Childcare Committee have said they are delighted with the €4million Capital Funding for Early Childhood Services announced by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr. Katherine Zappone.
According to Minister Zappone, the funding will help put the infrastructure in place to support ambitious plans to turn Ireland’s childcare system from one of the most expensive in the world to the best.
The 2017 Early Years Capital Funding programme is to be made available to childcare centres, crèches and other early years services.
Strand 1 – €3 million is being made available for grants to expand the capacity of childcare places available. This funding is open to both community and private childcare services, under 3 strands.
Strand 2 – €500,000 funding is available for significant upgrades of community childcare services, such as essential maintenance or improvements to maximise the energy performance of childcare services.
Strand 3 – The remaining €500,000 in capital funding is being made available for both private and community childcare services to access grants of up to €5,000 for the creation of natural outdoor play areas.
DCCC see the investment in our childcare infrastructure as one that will benefit childcare providers, parents and children throughout County Donegal.
