Donegal defender Eamon Doherty said Sunday’s draw against Monaghan was ‘one that got away’.
An injury time Conor McManus penalty earned the Farney a share of the spoils in Ballyshannon, denying Donegal a win.
“It’s one that got away,” Doherty said.
“We were in a good enough position at half-time. You could see how difficult it was.
“We kicked on a wee bit at the start of the second half. Monaghan stayed with us, but we fell asleep. It was draining and there was just no let up.”
Donegal remain in a strong position to make the League final as they go to face Mayo on Sunday.
Doherty said: “We haven’t been thinking about a final. We’re going out to win every game and we’re taking it as it comes.”
