A public meeting has been called to save Stranorlar’s Family Enrichment Centre.
It was announced yesterday that funding for the centre will cease by the end of the year.
Local county councillor Patrick McGowan said the centre, which helps people with various personal issues including mental health, needs to remain open.
He said “I have organised a public meeting for next Thursday 23rd at 7-30pm in Jackson’s Hotel. I hope the people in attendance will organise them self to support the continuation of this service in some way and I will commit to helping in any way I can.
“I believe the HSE and others should not wait until next Thursday before getting their act together, people will expect a statement of intent from the HSE before that date.
“I would also call on our Oireachtas members to make contact with the Family enrichment centre with out delay to offer their support and commit to lobby the HSE and the Dept of Health for proper resources .
“People in East Donegal and indeed in a much wider area are in urgent need of this type of service.”
