Sadness and anger as Stranorlar Family Enrichment Centre closes

There has been sadness and anger at the closure of the Family Enrichment Centre in Stranorlar.

The centre, which was set up by Sr Ann McCloone, has provided invaluable help in the areas of personal relationship advice and counselling for more than 20 years.

It is believed that funding for the centre for the forthcoming year has not been allocated.

Local county councillor Patrick McGowan said he was saddened to hear of the news and was urging the HSE and the Government to act on the matter.

“This centre has done terrific work over the years, often in a private and personal capacity because of the sensitive nature of some of these issues.

“In this country we often react but only when things get broken. I would appeal to the HSE and the Government to step in and to provide the necessary funding to ensure that this centre remains open,” he said.
