A woman killed in India this morning is believed to be from Co Donegal.
The woman, who is in her late 20s and from Inishowen, was found dead in the coastal resort of Canacona in Goa.
A man has been arrested after the woman’s body was found on open ground.
Police said she had bruising to her body as well as facial injuries and they believe she had been holidaying in the area.
The Times of India has reported that the woman was murdered.
It is understood the woman was holidaying in the area.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said the Irish embassy in New Delhi is in contact with authorities in India in relation to reports of an incident involving an Irish citizen.
The department stands ready to provide consular assistance.
